Furthermore, becoming indipenednt and further enhacing their own lived by living by themselves with the constant support within the community.
Would you choose to a abort a child with Down Syndrome?
Down Syndrome is not a genetic disorder in which the patient is undergoing pain and discomfort. Although an individuals life will be different to a human with two choromomes, their life is probably more happier. DS children will have to go do more screening tests (eye tests, hearing tests, medical tests) and remain alert of all possible symptoms so prevention is vital and controlled, however, this does not mean they have a poor life or their life is not worth living.
If, however, the choice was chosen to abort the child as three chromosome 21's were detected throughout any type of scan, resulting in Down Syndrome. This would be a decision in which the family would make for their own personal beliefs/decisions. As there is no prevention or treatment for DS, the only treatment could be possibly to abort the child, if they could not fulfil the role of dealing with this Down Syndrome and you feel that is the best decision you could personally make. If abortion was to be considered, the average of most abortions occur during the first trimester throughout the pregnancy. In Figure 1.1 above, it shows the trimester period throughout a nine month pregnancy. With most abortions performed during the first 12 weeks, (first trimester), however, if the abortion is not undertaken within the first 12 weeks, often people consider enhancing the abortion within the sec on trimester which is from 12 to 24 weeks of a pregnancy development.
